Rare United States Canada Trade Agreement 1939 Linen Napkins Novelty Vintage Printed Tablecloth
I have never seen this tablecloth before in 20 years of dedicated collecting. It has arms of Canada and the United States around the edges. Four narrow hankie hems. Scarce enough, it comes with FOUR matching napkins. The colors are strong, it shows very little use. There is one dye swipe on the back of a napkin which is not visible on the front.
1939 was a huge year for the United States, the World and for vintage tablecloths. The war had not yet happened and there were TWO World's Fairs in the United States, one in New York and one in San Francisco. I believe this tablecloth recognizes the Reciprocal Trade Agreement that was enacted in this busy year.
