Sad Red Simtex Lily Vintage Tablecloth I had a bad experience with this Simtex lily tablecloth and matching napkins. When it came, it had the strongest smell of mothballs you could ever imagine! So I asked people what to do about it. I tried Oxy, Tide and finally soaking in baking soda. Well, that made the dyes run. So I hung it outside and ignored it for about 4 weeks. Then I gave it a mild Biz and chlorine bleach bath, rinsed, vinegar rinse, then washed in Tide. It is now clean and fresh smelling although a little more faded than it was. So the short answer is I dont know if I have damaged the fabric. It seems fine now, but you just never know. The weird thing is that the napkins dont match. The tablecloth is textured cotton, the napkins are duck, like a Wilendur. They are more faded than the tablecloth. However they do go together well.
